Time Out

She wonders 
if she let go
how far she would fall.

It may get messy.
They could be searching for days
piecing together a picture  
that was always missing sky.

She steps back
climbs inside her ear to think.
It cradles her like a moon.

J V Birch is a British-born Australian poet living on Kaurna land in Adelaide. Her poems have been anthologised, exhibited and published in Australia, the UK, Canada and the US.
